Permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing where hypo-allergic pigments are inserted into the dermal layer of the skin. It is designed to last for years before being broken down naturally by the body.
What is it?
Nanoblading is a relatively new treatment that uses ultra-fine nano needles which can mimic the diameter and dimension of real hair in the skin. It’s a semi-permanent tattoo that gives brows volume and definition by adding fine hair strokes between the natural hairs.
The results stay visible for 1.5 to 2.5 years, after which you can return for a colour boost or let them fade away. Inorganic pigments are used which the body naturally breaks down, allowing you to modify the look every once in a while, instead of being stuck with it forever.
Who is a good candidate?
Anyone who wants a natural-looking brow enhancement!
Nano brows work best on dry to normal skin, but they can work on oily skin, too. Unlike microblading, which isn’t recommended for those with oily skin/large pores (strokes blur quickly) – hair strokes created with a tattoo machine are more resilient to pigment migrations.
So, regardless of skin type you can get nano brows, but just be aware that pigments tend to fade faster in oilier skin.
How does it work?
The procedure is performed using a super fine (nano) needle and a tattoo machine. The needle is so thin it mimics the diameter of a brow hair, creating delicate hair strokes which are indistinguishable from natural hairs.
Will it look finished after one session?
We all want perfect brows straight away, but we have to be mindful that everyone’s brows heal differently, and the skin may not take enough pigment after the first implementation. Or, you may want to go darker or modify the shape a bit more. All these are corrected at the touch-up.
Once your brows start fading away, you may notice the colour change a bit. Your skin tone or body chemistry may cause the pigments to turn slightly cooler or warmer in tone than you want them. You can book a colour-correcting touch-up and refresh it.
How long does the procedure take?
Nano brows are created over 2 sessions – the initial implementation, and the 6-8 week touch up.
The 1st session takes about 2-2.5 hours. Some clients need more strokes, some need fewer.
